Mastering the Molten: Mendocino County Glass Art Show

  • Grace Hudson Museum 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 (map)

Highlighting contemporary art glass from master craftspeople throughout Mendocino County, this exhibit surveys the diversity of the medium. The featured artists use techniques ranging from kiln forming, cold work, sandblasting, and classic Venetian glassblowing to computeraided design and wood burning with molten glass. Their work includes the lovely stained glass of Jeanette Carson; Sean Cramblett’s richly-colored and textured glass sculptures; technically-dazzling vessels and wall art by Kale Haschak; Scott Hegan’s delicate, colorful, and intricately-patterned pieces; charming narrative sculptures by Erika Kohr Island; Yorgen Kvinsland’s technologically-assisted work that blends the efforts of man and machine; beautiful nature-themed containers by Cynthia Myers; Elizabeth Raybee’s eclectic glass mosaics; the compelling fragile sculpture of Ferdinand Thieriot; and “drawings made with glass” by Jonah Ward. Please join us at Mastering the Molten and gain a new appreciation for what glass can do.

Jonah will have a number of pieces on display during this special exhibition and performing a live demo at the museum on January 19, 5-8pm.
